LIGHT AND MATTER / RO / ENG

Light and matter are two fundamental pillars of existence, intertwined in a fascinating dance that forms the very essence of the universe we inhabit. Light, as a manifestation of energy and photons, grants us the ability to perceive and understand the surrounding world. Matter, on the other hand—composed of atoms and subatomic particles—is the foundation of our bodies and of everything around us.

Inspired by the idea of liminality — that transitional state within ritual, performance, or inner transformation — these works propose an extension of meaning: from liminal to luminal. From artwork to lighting object. Here, light is not merely medium but essence. Not just an accent, but a source.

“The Source” opens a gateway between two worlds: one of painting in its traditional form, and another of light emerging from within. The exhibited works are created with translucent materials, each frame containing an LED panel that, once activated, transforms the image into a luminous, vivid, and profound space. In its “unlit” state, the piece is painting — a material object with a classical presence. In its “lit” state, it becomes something else: a body of light, a contemporary stained glass, a portal into a reality always present yet unseen.

Their integration into ambient lighting creates a balance between the aesthetic and the functional, reducing visual stress and inducing a sense of calm. Organic, abstract forms painted with stained-glass hues produce subtle plays between transparency and opacity. Light filtered through these layers becomes warmer, softer, inviting relaxation and introspection. Studies show that ambient light directly influences mental state, circadian rhythm, and even energy levels, offering an authentic well-being experience: a space where light is not only seen but felt.
